Blue Grouse Country Inn

Travel south from Jasper to Vancouver, Hwy 5 winds down mostly alongside Wells Gray Park, its entrance in the town of Clearwater. From here, Clearwater Valley Road takes you into the wilderness of Wells Gray Provincial Park where you will find a well-marked driveway to a hidden Bed & Breakfast. The Blue Grouse Country Inn is set back from the road 200 meters with  views of mountain scenery.
Innkeepers Mike & Regina found this place over 25 years ago and made the cedar log cabin their home.In 2002 the Bed&Breakfast part was added; each room has its own entrance from a covered veranda. We serve you a full breakfast buffet either in the Blue Grouse Room or on the Sundeck. After an adventurous day in the Park,a soak in the hot tub & Sauna will sooth your muscles,or just be at peace beside the small plunging waterfall in the rock garden and let your mind wander or watch the hummingbirds hovering at the feeders.
Ideal for outdoor adventures and guided activities, your hosts can book a tour or provide you with information on the Park should you wish to explore on your own.
Popular tours are the Wells Gray Appetizer, a combination of sightseeing & canoeing. Horseback riding can be arranged with Wells Gray Ranch or flight seeing with Wells Gray Air. Popular hikes go into the alpine flower meadows or under a waterfall. Chinook and Coho Salmon are moving upstream in August and their effort of jumping at Baileys Chute is another highlight the Park.
In Clearwater several operators offer water sport activities-kayaking, whitewater rafting & float trips. Clearwater Lake Tours also provides a jet-boat tour for the less adventurous.
For dinner your hosts can inform you of nearby restaurants which are spread between 2 & 9 kms distance. A delicious picnic lunch can be ordered at the Blue Grouse for your day in the Park.
We are convinced that you need a full day to explore Wells Gray Park and therefore do require a minimum stay of two nights. English and German is spoken fluently.
