Apple Tree is a good steward of the land, using environmentally friendly practises: green cleaning products; bulk hand soap, bath soap, shampoo, conditioners and lotions; cloth napkins rather than paper, and recycle cans, bottles, glass, paper and cardboard. Food and yard waste are composted. The house is heated/cooled with a heat pump, and we have installed a programmable thermostat. We have upgraded attic insulation, replaced inefficient windows and doors, and installed low flow taps, shower heads and toilets. We have replaced household appliances with Energy Star models, and most of our incandescent lights with compact fluorescent bulbs. We have replaced 50% of our lawn with native, low water plants and converted the original irrigation system to a drip system that waters individual plants. The flower beds have been topped with a moisture retaining mulch that also helps to control weeds. We use no herbicides. We have just recentlyreplaced our two aging vehicles with a newer, more energy efficient model.
Whether over-nighting, or staying for an extended period of time, you'll enjoy your stay at Apple Tree and want to come back.
