Kidd's

Lake Cowichan is located at the east end of Cowichan Lake in a scenic valley surrounded by mountains. Summers are warm and winters mild.

The town is well equiped with restaurants, coffee shops and pubs, a new grocery store, hardware, banks and credit union. There is a museum telling the story of forestry, an art gallery, gift shop and so-on.

Villages of Honeymoon Bay, Mesachie Lake and Youbou are also well worth a visit as are beaches located around the lake.

Swimming, boating and river tubing are popular summer activities. We have been known to take guests up the lake for a picnic on our pontoon boat There are many hiking and biking trails, and we are at the west end of the Trans-Canada Trail.

The Cowichan area has many interesting places to visit. The North West Raptor Centre, the Quwutsun Cultural Centre, the Forest Discovery Centre, are near Duncan. The murals and theatre at Chemainus are famous and the village at Cowichan Bay is a unique tourist town that has recently become a slow food place. There are 12 wineries in the area. Some have picnic areas and some serve very good meals.

Lake Cowichan is a great base for exploring southern Vancouver Island. It is 95km to Victoria and 85km to Nanaimo. You can go down to the coast to Port Renfrew and explore Botanical Beach. Also travel on into Victoria along the Juan de Fuca coast. More adventurist people can go west to Carmanah Park, Nitinat for wind surfing and to Bamfield at the entrance to the Alberni inlet.

Do put Lake Cowichan on your schedule.
