Mount Robson is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, towering 12,972 feet (3954 m) over the western entrance to the park. It is also considered the most prominent mountain in the North American Rockies Range. Mount Robson Provincial Park is the second oldest provincial park in the province of British Columbia and part of the Canadian Rockies Unesco World Heritage site.Your Mount Robson Bed & Breakfast innkeepers will tell you that the mountain is also the headwaters of the mighty Fraser River which winds its way through a large part of British Columbia to the Pacific Ocean near Vancouver. If you follow the Lakes & Trails Circle driving route in British Columbia you will also arrive at Mount Robson Provincial Park.
The superb scenery in the park makes it an excellent outdoor experience for hikers, climbers, fishers and backcountry enthusiasts. There are hiking trails for every level of expertise, with some of the trails also suitable for horseback riding and mountain biking. For climbers, Mount Robson is a huge challenge as only 10% of climbs have been successful. There is no easy way to the summit. Winter activities include heli-skiing, snowmobiling and backcountry skiing.
There is a great variety of wildlife to be found in Mount Robson Park including mule deer, whitetail deer, mountain goats, black and grizzly bears.
The nearest town is the friendly town of Valemount which offers a variety of services. Water activities, fishing, hiking and great BC birdwatching can be found in the Valemount area.
