Saanichton, British Columbia Bed and Breakfasts
Saanichton is in the very centre of the Saanich Peninsula on which Victoria is situated. This is wonderfully convenient since absolutely everything you might wish to see and do on southern Vancouver Island is in easy reach. The Saanich Peninsula is only 20 miles (30km) north to south with the BC Ferries terminal and Sidney-by-the-Sea at the northern end and the city of Victoria in the south. Not only is Saanichton central and accessible it also benefits from a quiet semi-agricultural lifestyle, so expect to relax! The rolling countryside is delightful to explore. Drive through the backroads with their fruit stands and wineries where a sampling tour is a great way to get a taste of the area (there's a cidery too). Go hiking in John Dean Provincial Park or along the beaches, play golf or go kayaking in Brentwood Bay, and then enjoy local foods in one of the area restaurants. Principal attractions in the area include the magnificent Butchart Gardens with over 50 acres of floral displays, Butterfly Gardens and the Centre of the Universe at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory. Within a five minute drive from Saanichton you will reach Sidney with its bookshops and quiet seaside atmosphere and the Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre, the hiking trails of Gowlland Tod, boating at Elk Lake, Glendale Gardens, and the shops at Matticks Farm. Saanich Peninsula Bed & Breakfasts are tucked away throughout the region and offer a great BC accommodation option to explore the entire region.
